At Aylsham Community Church we strongly believe that God’s plan for His church is for us to be a community, ‘doing life’ together with Him at the centre. This is the purpose of Life Groups – a programme of mid-week groups which we would like to invite everyone to be a part of.
Here are just a few reasons to be part of a Life Group. A Life Group will:
- help us build and deepen friendships
- equip us in shaping and sharpening our faith as we grow closer to God together
- be an excellent place to serve, use our gifts and be released into all that God has intended for us
- provide us with opportunities to invite friends and those wishing to explore faith in Jesus to come and experience His family ‘in action’
There are a variety of Life Groups to choose from, so we trust you will find and enjoy the right one for you.
The following Life Groups will run from February 2017 – July 2017.
A STITCH IN TIME
With busy lives it’s good to have some time out in good company to meet up with others. This is a creative sewing / knitting / crochet activity group for ladies (any small projects that don’t need machines). The idea is to have an evening every fortnight where we can meet to be creative, make things, finish little projects, learn from each other and to talk. Our times together will provide an opportunity to invite friends from outside of the church family as well.
Led by: Penny Taylor
When: Fortnightly, Tuesdays, drop in between 7.00pm—10.00pm
THE PARENTING COURSE
Having been on The Parenting Children course ourselves a couple of years ago, we wanted to look at the material again because it was so helpful. We are definitely not experts but would love to invite others who are in a similar season of life with primary aged children to join us as we look at both the joys and challenges of parenthood! We will start the evening off by sharing a meal together, followed by watching The Parenting Children course DVD and discussing the topic together. We will also be devoting some of our evenings to particularly praying for our children.
Led by Tim and Annice Green
When: Fortnightly, Tuesdays 7.30pm—10.00pm
MEN ON THE FRONTLINE
Our focus is on growing in our faith, seeing it put into action and exploring what it is to be a man in the 21st Century and to be honest about the struggles we face! We will meet fortnightly for worship, prayer and a focused discussion. If you want to be challenged and motivated, have your comfort zones stretched and have an occasional beer together – this is the group for you.
Led by Gordon Lindsay
When: Fortnightly, Tuesdays 8.00pm—9.30pm
AYLSHAM AND BEYOND
We will meet every other week to pray and socialise, praying for two main areas. Firstly for the people of Aylsham to know God and secondly for the pioneering church plants within Relational Mission, in both the UK and mainland Europe.
Led by Alison Sutton
When: Fortnightly, Wednesdays 7.30pm—9.00pm
Christianity Explored is a 7-week course – based on the Gospel of Mark – which considers the big questions of life through exploring the life and claims of Jesus. It uses video, discussion and the Bible to create space for people to ask questions and explore faith in Jesus. So whether you have friends you would like to invite or would like to be trained in how to be part of leading a Christianity Explored course or would simply like to go over the basics of the gospel for yourself then the Christianity Explored Life Group could be for you!
Led by Simon Gallagher
When: Weekly, Wednesdays 7.30pm—9.30pm
TUNING TO FLOW
A spontaneous worship group linking with prayer and the prophetic. The idea is to begin with worship or perhaps just to play around a few chords and let the Holy Spirit guide our music and prayers. If you are a “prayer warrior”, and are stirred to pray by music and creativity, you would be very welcome. This group has scope for people who would like to explore art and painting in worship as well.
Led by Heather Webb
When: Weekly, Thursdays 7.30pm—9.30pm
Where: Hevingham (some accessibility issues, speak to Heather for details)
This group is for anyone who wants a better understanding of Biblical truth. We will use some parts of the NewFrontiers WordPlus syllabus, and also some of our own material. The group won’t just be a series of lectures. There will be a lot of discussion and interactivity, with sessions led by members of the group.
Led by Bruce Cairns
When: Fortnightly, Thursdays 7.30pm—9.00pm
Where: Jubilee Family Centre
WOMEN WHO WALK
“Women who walk” is not surprisingly a group for women who want to gather together to walk, talk and pray! We will meet during term time at a group member’s home for coffee before going out and walking for about an hour whilst chatting and praying for one another and our community. We also want to be open to God giving us opportunities as we walk to engage with our community.
Led by Chris Schaitel and Susan Webster
When: Fortnightly, Thursdays 9.30am—11.30am
THE PUDDING CLUB
The idea behind The Pudding Club is simple—take time out to meet together, enjoy hanging out with friends and eat dessert!
It’s also a great opportunity to bring along some friends, and introduce them to your church family.
Led by Peter and Sue Atthill
When: Monthly, Fridays 8pm—10pm
A coffee morning where we can invite people we know to come and have coffee, eat cake and chat together in a friendly and loving atmosphere. There will be the opportunity to offer prayer for people as well.
Led by Linda Green
When: Weekly, Fridays 10.30am—11.30am
Where: Jubilee Family Centre
